Athens Printmaking Center – Pandolfini & Siaterli is glad to announce the launch of the artistic program on Printmaking and Print art in collaboration with the Association of Cancer Patients KEFI Athens. The initiative will unravel through a long-term artistic program in the coming months under the guidance and supervision of artists and facilitators with prior experience in art education, inclusion and accessibility in the arts. Participants will explore the language of printmaking and the creative aspects of the medium. The outcome of the programme will take the form of a group exhibition of contemporary printmaking that will open at the ETCH INK art space on December 13, 2024.
The programme aims to activate artistic practices through hands-on exercises and methods, while investigating therapeutic approaches and healing processes through art. Both collectively and individually, participants are invited to develop visual and aesthetic sensibilities, experimentation and self-expression through a collaborative and psycho-dynamic approach. Under the guidance of professional visual artists, they will be introduced to techniques such as etching, sugar-lift, linocut and they will experiment with relief printing using gelatin and x-rays, to create new original print works.
The programme will be articulated through thematic sessions focused on conceptual areas such as “Dual Coexistences”, the notion of home, self and other, the discursive relationship and visual representation of text and print, etc. In addition, the participants will have the opportunity to develop a collective work, which will represent the culmination of their creative collaboration and exchange throughout the programme.
Athens Printmaking Art Center’s activity in collaboration with the Association of Cancer Patients KEFI Athens is organised under the auspicies and the financial support of the Ministry of Culture.
